Pre-Planning & Design
It is critically important to ensure the kit is designed for both fulfillment efficiency and overall quality. Fosdick works with our clients to provide clear documentation of every kit type, optimize packaging design, standardize assembly instructions and identify key triggers throughout the process.
Inventory Management
Fosdick puts extreme emphasis on preventing shortages, miscounts and inefficiencies. All kitting components are stored in optimal locations near one another to streamline workflow. Our Warehouse Management System (WMS) automatically updates inventory counts when kits are assembled. Our barcoding system tracks each individual component during the process, and we frequently count high-turnover components used in multiple kits.
Assembly
Fosdick’s assembly process is designed to balance speed, accuracy and quality. Our optimized workstations enable one-direction flow assembly lines. Similar kits are batched together to reduce setup and changeover time. We set up checkpoints throughout the assembly process, and our staff is cross trained so they can handle kitting peaks.
Technology Integration
Our WMS integration supports dynamic BOMS, work order and real-time inventory updates. Our analytics track all key metrics during the assembly process including labor hours per kid, error rates and cost per kit and we provide fluid API connectivity to our clients’ shopping cart and eCommerce platforms.
Quality & Transparency
Fosdick assures quality through random audits, a stringent document control system, expiration tracking (especially for cosmetics, supplements or food), and photographic proof-of-assembly for high-ticket items. We provide our clients with shared dashboards so they can access inventory levels, work in progress and kit completion in real time. Our change management protocol requires written client confirmation prior to altering kit components or packaging specs.
